Less than a week to go!
It's less than a week until our wedding and people have started arriving!
My parents are staying with Maya's parents at their beach house (I love the idea of having a beach house and another home) and we have rented a house nearby with a bunch of the people who have come in from out of town.
Our house is massive! It's got two normal sized bedrooms, one small sized bedroom, one absolutely huge bedroom which by itself is bigger than some apartments I've lived in, a giant walk-in wardrobe that will sleep three in comfort, 5 toilets, 5 showers, plus enough living areas for a pool table and space to put out some extra beds! On top of that it's got a rooftop deck with views straight out over the Pacific!
So far we've only partially filled the house with people but we've got more arriving everyday up until the day before the wedding.

Prewedding stress
Two and a half weeks before our wedding and we are both in California (Maya came over a week earlier to get the plans moving along).
In the past week we've done such fun tasks as: Finalising seating arrangements, creating and putting together menus, deciding on the order of ceremonies for the big day and writing our vows, arranging gifts for our bridal party and our parents and hardest of all - dance practice!
Since we've been so busy and we've also had to babysit beD for the past few days it's good that we get to take the weekend off and go up to Sacramento to go to Steve (Maya's half-brother) and Nadia's engagement party.

Ignore the bloody donkey. That was beD's contribution to the party.
It looks like Nadia's brother is pretty pleased with the whole idea (or maybe he just has the world's biggest smile)

Moving House
Busy, busy, busy! Already this week I've started a new job and we've moved into our new house and it's still only Tuesday!!!
Bella is especially pleased with our new house. She is now allowed to play outside almost everyday!

Happy Birthday to me!!!
For my birthday this year we got to play "Pin the tail on Bella's hiney".
It's a fun game, but I'm glad Bella wasn't there to watch. She stayed home so that she could try out the new blanket she bought herself for my birthday.

Dance Classes
As a rule I DON'T DANCE.
It's not that I think I'm a bad dancer, I may well be a terrible dancer, I just know that in the few times I have either been forced onto or fallen drunkenly into the dance floor I haven't enjoyed myself at all.
With our wedding getting closer by the second and dancing being one of the many tasks that the groom traditionally has to perform on the day, Maya suggested that it might be an idea if I took some lessons with her (just to make sure I don't refuse to shake mah booty on our big day).
We have started getting lessons at Broadway Ballroom from Alana Patience of Dancing with the Stars fame. If she can teach C-grade "celebrities" how to dance then surely she can whip me into shape.
Everyone is now officially warned! Will dance floors ever be safe again?
(the answer is "probably")

Househunting
We have been househunting since about September last year. Most weekends we've woken up early on Saturday morning and gone and seen two or three or more places. This weekend however, we didn't go to look at even one property. Instead we signed the contract to buy our own house!
We first saw it about three weeks ago and it's the first one that has fit so many of our extensive criteria (two-three bedrooms, inner west, fully detached, nice street, good condition but still with improvements to be made, etc.) and was still within our price range.
During the past week we've had a building inspection and a pest inspection, made an offer, had the offer accepted, suggested changes to the contract, had the changes accepted, signed on the dotted line and handed over a cheque. It's been a little busy!

Not wanting a quiet weekend, we also found time to have dinner at 360 on Friday, dinner at the Lansdowne with Deb and Darren on Saturday, BBQ lunch in Centennial Park with Maya's workmates on Sunday (and Bella came along as well) and then went to The Shoothroughs gig in the evening.
Waking up on Monday morning was harder than ever!

World Cup 2006
Okay, I'll admit that I'm one of those people who doesn't really watch football except around the time of the World Cup, hell I even sometimes forget that it's apparently not supposed to be called "soccer".
My favourite moment in the tournament so far is surprisingly not when Australia beat Japan 3-1, but when in the first few minutes of the Brazil-Australia match Maya started referring to the Brazilian team as "the yellow babies" because of their amazing ability to fall over and start crying for no reason.

20,000 Steps Under the Sea
Apart from donating a little hard earned cash to Careflight, I also put in a bit of spare time as well.
Some of the DiveOz team decided to break the world record for the longest distance walked underwater and of course being the good souls that they are they choose to do it for a worthy charity.
My contribution to the cause was to act as a support diver during the lonely hours of the night as they approached and passed the 40 hour mark. I managed to clock up a total of just over four and half hours underwater, but this of course was nothing compared to the six people who were actually doing the walking.
Bella contributed as well. She entertained Careflight the Bear when I came home and was too tired to play.

Lollies from Ness!!!
I picked up a suspicious looking package from the post office today.
When I got it home and opened it up it was full of the tastiest chocolates I've had in ages, if not ever!
Thank you Ness!
My favourite one so far is the Yorkie (not for girls).

Bella's Blog
Bella finally got off her little hiney and made her blog public! She had a launch party today, via email since she's says it's too cold to get out of bed.
Bella's blog lives at digitalbella.blogspot.com.
